Welcome, and thank you for visiting Bright Futures Counselling.
My name is Annabel Russell and I provide short and long term counselling, for adults, in person, online or by telephone.
Are you feeling low? Stressed? Anxious? Or does life feel out of control? We all go through times when we are finding things difficult and could do with some support, or we need to work through something that has happened. As a BACP counsellor I am able to offer you a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space to talk through some of the challenges you may be facing, or to support you as you reflect on life events. Together we can explore some of the things which may be hindering you, helping you find healing and enabling you to lead a more fulfilling life.
About me
I'm a friendly and approachable person used to working with people of all ages. My background is as a physiotherapist, and then a nanny, alongside pastoral care work, before training to be a counsellor and working in private practice.
I have a CPCAB Diploma in Person-Centred Therapeutic Counselling, as well as Level 2 Counselling Skills and Level 3 Counselling Studies. I am a member of the BACP and ACC which are registered with the Professional Standards Authority so you can have peace of mind of the professional standard I adhere to. I have up to date DBS, and have training in Youth Mental Health First Aid, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, and When a Child Dies: Supporting Parents and Families.
I have have seen the value of counselling through my own life experiences.
Counselling takes place in a safe space, where you can meet with someone who will listen with sensitivity and empathy - and without judgement. In the therapy space thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely and in confidence.
A bereavement, recently or years ago; or other losses; stressful life events; feeling anxious or low - many people face difficulties in their everyday lives that can be hard to get on top of. Counselling can help you gain a better understanding of what may be going on, to help you find some solutions, and to cope better again.
I work in an integrative way, drawing on different approaches which best suit each client's individual needs. We will be working together to help you gain greater insight into the difficulties you are facing, exploring your thoughts and feelings, and helping you find a way forward.
